Delete your Rotly account
This page explains how to delete your Rotly account, what is erased, and what we are required to keep. It describes the same process as the Privacy Policy, which is the authoritative document.
From inside the app
Open Rotly and go to Profile → Account → Delete account, then confirm. Deletion takes effect immediately.
Without the app
If you have uninstalled Rotly or cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We reply within 30 days and normally much sooner. We may need to confirm you control the address before we erase anything, because an account deletion cannot be undone.
What gets deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your email address and the identifier your Google or Apple sign-in gives us | Erased. The emptied account record keeps only an internal record number and dates — no name, no email, nothing that identifies you |
| Your password hash and any pending verification codes | Erased |
| Your prompts, dialogue, chosen characters and clip links | Erased |
| Generated clip files still on our server | Deleted. These are removed about three days after a clip is made in any case, whether or not you delete your account |
| Your sign-in sessions | Revoked on every device |
| Usage events | Unlinked from your device identifier |
If a clip is being generated at the moment you delete (a render takes minutes), we erase what can safely be erased right away and mark the rest, which is erased when that render is next processed.
What we keep, and why
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| An internal record number, the creation and deletion dates, and the timestamp and version of the policy you consented to | Legal accountability — we have to be able to show consent was given | Retained, de-identified. It cannot be linked back to you |
| Your store subscription record, if a subscription is still active | So the store receipt survives and you are not left unable to prove a purchase | Until the subscription ends |
| Copies held by our generation provider | Outside our servers | Removed on that provider's own retention schedule |
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
Rotly Pro is billed by Apple or Google, not by us, and we cannot cancel it for you. If you delete your account while a subscription is running, the store keeps charging you until you cancel it yourself.
Cancel it first, in App Store → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Payments and subscriptions on Android. Removing the app from your phone does not cancel it either.
Refunds are a separate matter and are decided by the store. See the Refund Policy.
